So @contextsmag is deeply committed to hard sell of Dolezal. They flog their piece again in connection to Tuvel https://www.facebook.com/contextsmag/posts/10155324430079732 …

Contexts eds didn't support anti-racism scholarship of Saida Grundy & no followup to Zandria Robinson's piece. Both Black women sociologists
-
Why does
#sociology publication feverishly publicise 2 articles that reproduce racism & transphobia but dismiss other POC race scholars? -
NYT defence of Tuvel which
@contextsmag promotes is by a White cisgender man who cries academic freedom whilst dismissing minority scholars. -
"Transracialism" posts [Dolezal in
@contextsmag; Tuvel in Hypatia; Hypatia & Contexts editors & NYT defence of Tuvel] have 1 thing in common -
They ignore the scholarship of
#POC & transgender researchers who have been working to dismantle White supremacy & transphobia in academia. -
Cisgender men & White women feminists swing the "academic freedom" argument like a club, aiming to squash minority scholars as "insidious"
-
Many
#POC anti-racism & transgender scholars have pointed out probs of "transracialism" - poorly theorised concept lacking empirical rigour -
In
#sociology we must see that groups least likely to succeed in our field -#POC & transgender people - are targets of bad science. -
So while sociologists with race & gender privilege argue academic freedom (for some), this gatekeeping supports inequality in our discipline
-
Bad
#sociology should never be tolerated. Informed critique by minority sociologists, whether in class, on campus or social media, is valid.

Yes, we stand behind the sociologists who publish in our pages, while welcoming debate and disagreement. https://contexts.org/articles/we-own-it/ …
