Yes it's troubling. People who sprout this term also support idea that there should be quotas for political affiliations amongst faculty.

The last college where I taught had an entire economics department dominated by disciples of Ayn Rand. They ran the ethics program too.

Ah yes, this idea has been tossed around in the US quite a bit. It plays into the idea that faculty are more left-leaning than in reality.

Exactly correct! They throw around silly arguments about bias, which are really about supporting conservative ideology.
