Ugh and trying to find diversity for women scientists? Disabled, WOC, diff religions, diff bodies/looks. GETOUTTAHERE says stock photos.

But stock photo industry is an insidious & increasingly parasitic business whose business model depends on paying NO ONE fairly.

Stock photography suffers from being on the outside of just about every field it depicts except perhaps corporate office-work

2) depict women as passive, sad victims, rather than agents of change or complex; 3) Reinforce stereotypes; eg WOC in "poor" backgrounds.

Even when media seeking photos of actual researchers - they want them to stand in lab, even if that is *not at all* the type of work they do

When I was a postgrad, I did a TV interview and they wouldn't film me in my office - open plan & cramped with stuff, which how I worked...

Yep! I had to explain that I didn't actually have swipe access to the lab as I had no need to ever be in there!
