When stories of these harassers in academia come to light, it's almost never just one target who communicated the problem to a department.

People knew. People with the authority to do SOMETHING knew. Apparently they decided to do nothing. That's decidedly awful.

If philosophers don't have the moral courage to protect their own students from philosophers who are harassers, philosophy should burn down.

Faculty & administrators who KNOW about harassers in academia have a responsibility to DO SOMETHING. Protect targets from further harm.

Faculty in departments with harassers who DON'T know should at least consider whether there's a reason harasser's targets didn't tell them.

Sometimes targets don't think you're a faculty member who cares to help. That might be a response to stuff you've said, done. Reflect on it.
