Apologies if missing info @ScienceMarchSyd but list does not indicate #Indigenous speakers nor #LGBTQIA & disabled speakers. #marginsci

gotta agree with Zuleyka here. Is John Hewson apolitical now?
-
Hewson has been a vocal advocate for science & evidence in policy. He doesn't represent Liberal Party and we feel his message is important.
-
To be clear: former leader from party of our current government is still political. Announced ahead of an ATSI Australian sci.
#marginsci -
Politics is an important aspect of why we march. Hewson speaks to conservatives about importance of science. Eva Cox is a Labor identity.
-
March promoted nonpartisan stance.
#Marginsci around world protested this for months. Former Lib =politics. Cox was not member of parliament -
We are non-partisan. None of our speakers represent any political party. The Libs would not accept that Hewson represents or speaks for them

Finally while doubtless Dr John Hewson will make a compelling speaker, he was former Liberal Party Leader.... 1/2

SciMarch globally & in Australia made a big fuss about non-partisan stance which alienated minority groups. Why exception here?

YES! March takes place on Gadigal land. Plenty of amazing ATSI scientists. Same goes for disabled & LGBTQIA people: we need their expertise
