I was actually explaining this yesterday to a WM friend who is an MD. He mentioned his WOC mentor was a very tough and formal.

I make a point to do this on principle. It's such a common microaggression.

Agreed! Same goes in applied research; 1st thing my managers (both women) taught me; use titles as strategy to push back on being undermined

That gets even worse in a country like mine. Here we have med. Dr., but a phd in any profession is also a Dr. and a Dr. is a titel.
