The version of King I was taught was so well-spoken that he didn't need more than words. It wasn't until college that I learned otherwise :(

Maybe because the people teaching me wanted us to believe they had listened to him.

It's sad how little most people know about him, learn about him, or understand what he tried to teach us.

We learned "content of their character" but not "I have been gravely disappointed by the white moderate."

And we certainly didn't learn about how we were socialized to judge the character of POC differently.
