Postscript: I spent the coffee break explaining things to a group of men who then asked a grad student questions about what I said.

As in, I would talk, and then they would turn to the grad student and ask him a follow up question about what I said.

Mind you, I had just given the only talk on this topic at the conference 40 minutes before.

In other words, if you are a woman and do the decent thing and introduce grad students to people, they might seniorize the male ones.
