I haven't made a big deal about this, but I quit the march because the internal culture was so frustrating.

I'm okay, once I stepped away and felt like I wasn't wasting labor I felt better.
-
I worry most about harmful messages that reinforce the idea that science isn't for everyone.
-
Sadly this is the message that POC, LGBTQIA & disabled people are getting loud & clear: you don't belong here.

I honestly think most don't understand that this is the message, or why. They're still in "n-blind" mode.
-
I also think there a lot of self-undermining that comes with being new organizers and not reaching out to seasoned folks.
-
Lots of URM told the organisers to reach out to activist groups. E.g. https://twitter.com/HeyDrWilson/status/824480926654726145 … They didn't listen.
@JacquelynGill#marginsci -
There are even people involved with activist experience who aren't being listened to, which is so frustrating.
-
What a mess! Do we let 1st year undergrads run projects or labs? No. They have to be trained by experts for years.
