@methanoJen@ScienceMarchDC@latinorebels Teach them what to do Don't increase division. Many scientists are clueless nerds. -
Clueless nerd defense is just a cop out. eg. "I couldn't help because I didn't "know" slavery was bad." educate me.
-
Yes this! Lots of people consider themselves nerds. Nerds are diverse. This is not an excuse for resistance to diversity

This action is a protest against the de-valuation of facts, not a march for diversity.
-
If you are protesting the de-valuation of facts, then you must protest sexism, racism, and all other bigotry.
@OtherSociology -
And it is not co-opting anything to say that a march for science should represent science as done by _all_ scientists.
-
it doesn't need a diversity spin to represent all scientists, they are all invited
-
[1/2] Professional science is currently systemically sexist, racist, ableist, and otherwise bigoted. That must be countered
-
[2/2]Unless MfS makes specific efforts to be inclusive, it will fail on diversity.
@OtherSociology has written about this. -
Regarding diversity, opinions of ablebodied white men don't much matter. Those of women, PoC, & people with disabilities do
-
firstly, while these are problems they are not the purpose of the march, plain and simple
