1) @ScienceMarchDC Tweet about men who took credit for Rosalind Franklin's research. Get criticised by science community. #marginscipic.twitter.com/XHAimSzIVn
2) 1hr later @ScienceMarchDC tweets on Franklin. @seschaeffer962 notes link claims data stealing is myth https://twitter.com/seschaeffer962/status/836653389006123008 … #marginscipic.twitter.com/jj3y8SjfFl
3) Of all critiques @ScienceMarchDC responds not to many women scientists but @WhySharksMatter who's excellent but notably a man #marginscipic.twitter.com/NEDzsYcPfF
4) Men should speak up on inequality! But telling that @ScienceMarchDC, chose to speak to a man not women who continue to lead this critiquepic.twitter.com/Ul0Fz9wOkH
5) Despite hours of critique @ScienceMarchDC RT same Franklin tweet. Defend original saying "character limit." Ignore critique. #marginscipic.twitter.com/coHBQsgtCW
6) And that's that. @ScienceMarchDC tweeted more without replying to critique (already answered a man!). Did RT pic of cute dog. #marginscipic.twitter.com/qhhO5roFRP
Does it really matter what sex the tweeter was if the issue was addressed? You really think they're sexist?
The issue was never actually addressed either time. And uh yeah it was sexist. That's the point.
7) @ScienceMarchDC organisers have stated "Yes, this is a protest, but it’s not a political protest.” #marginscihttps://www.nytimes.com/2017/02/01/science/march-for-science-washington-date.html?_r=1 …
wow what else would a protest be if not political. Y'all we really can't trust these ppl
8) @ScienceMarchDC organisers have stated: "This isn’t about scientists. It’s about science." http://www.chronicle.com/article/March-for-Science-/239160 … #marginsci
<head asplodes>
Unbelievable delusion that such a separation is possible. Science just hovers above us mere mortals. @ScienceMarchDC @chronicle
9) Reason why @ScienceMarchDC can say this is because organisers don't deeply understand history & current reality of science. #marginsci
what is their average age? My views on science pretty unnuanced/naive when I started PhD; but I learned through listening.
Not quite an age thing as I see it. I see this about experience more so. May lack experience on divesrity issues & protests
yes that's true, but I also mean the stance that science is not itself a human creation, & is separable from scientists.
just thinking about how views about science itself as being 'beyond human' might influence attitudes to diversity.
(I'm sure this isn't original thoughts, just wondering about connections)
