My commenting policy clearly says that I can't help with assignments or theses. But this man is Very Important & has a deadline for me.

Students may not realise but teaching & supervision is unfortunately the least valued work in academia & has zero bearing on applied careers

Women are especially asked to do this service. This example perfectly shows how patriarchy shapes undervaluing of women's expertise & time

Yes. Yesterday, I got 2nd solicitation from unknown male after I'd already told him I couldn't help.pic.twitter.com/FvhusAlFhr

I'd said, patiently & politely, I couldn't supervise any students, & he came back with his credentials. His CV & his needs trumps mine.

BTW we aren't paid to supervise students; we fit it around long hours of full time work. In my case I'm only "paid" in-kind as an Adjunct

Finally when a woman professional says No to unpaid work, a man pushing her plus with a deadline, is sexism at play. Don't do this

I've said it many times before: just because we blog does not mean we work free nor are we stand-ins as disposable academic labour.

#DearSexism thanks for giving me a glimpse of nightmare of entitlement that would've been supervising you. No thanks"
