Whenever people tell me that racism isn't an issue in their department & they're not @ an HBCU, my estimate of their intelligence goes down.

@IBJIYONGI I suspect in a number of those cases they don't think there can be an issue because there are no people of colour in the dept.

@xayma I've only seen one department that was 100% white. But often no underrepresented minorities.

@IBJIYONGI My thinking that is probably biased from Europe/Aus, where 100% white isn't uncommon even with int'l hires.

@xayma when I tweet about race I am talking about US unless explicitly said otherwise -- I only know US, Canada, UK well
