Let's talk about representations of race, gender & ableism in Joker and how to situate a critical reading in the local Australian context I saw the film last night in Newtown, Sydney, where the mostly White audience erupted in rapturous clapping. Love your critique. Newtown has clearly changed, sounds like gentrification has infiltrated critical mind mass which Newtown once had in spades. TY

Some of the little shops are still welcoming. But I saw this at the Dendy, which now shows big budget films. I've had my bag searched for 'alcohol' three different times by White woman staff, while I watch other White people let through without the same scrutiny. It's a mess.

I'm alright, thanks for checking in! My world was transformed for the better when I turned my mentions to only people I follow. This way, I only see this rubbish in dedicated sessions, when I feel prepared to read nonsense. And we have that in abundance here today.

If only white folks would spend more time on self reflection.....'who are you without racism?' TM

Yes, exactly! The logic of, 'you're racist because you analyse racism,' is whiteness to a tee.
