We saw it yesterday and I would certainly not consider it to be transformative. I think it works if you watch it in the context of the comic genre it is part of. Shallow & simplistic. The baddies in Batman have always been 1 dimensional. With a passing nod to what makes them evil

It definitely takes itself too seriously! Using complex issues (disability and abuse) in an attempt to give Joker depth is damaging and unnecessary.
