This is a really bad take. 1. A job is something you get paid for. We aren't making money off our time on here. 2. If you post your experiences or science constantly having to justify them to a bunch of people who know very little about the topic is exhausting.https://twitter.com/Richie_Research/status/1156886103913316352 …

So...literally the opposite of his argument here then? Ugh
-
He's disputing related - but warped - logic Here he's saying "I'm not here to educate you" (read: something minorities & White women often say to public who say "show me more evidence") have an obligation to "educate" to "convince others" (read "debate" aka put up with abuse)1/2
-
With me, he was saying that I should engage with abusive followers of transphobic/ racist White woman ACADEMIC
. He sees hate speech as valid
But I'm the expert on gender. Not the WW and her followers, whom he was defending
He thinks price of public science is abuse. Nope 2/2 -
I didn't realise it was this bad else I would not have been as nice in my thread. I saw an academic I respect defending him so thought there must be some redeeming quality - clearly not! He's just wasting everyone's time and energy. And worse actively targeting WoC it seems.
-
This is his strategy: he appeals to "rationality" and uses academic discussions to reinforce hate speech. He does it by inching slowly: he starts by painting himself out to be "constructive" but then ends up attacking & reinforcing idea that minorities should accept abuse.pic.twitter.com/NVMLqwHOe1

This is a career strategy of a certain type of White male student, who are using social media to spread discrimination. They hope to appeal to academics who've made a name for themselves doing the same Wary of harm they do to fellow students IRL & harm they hope to do in future
-
Any they leverage the sympathy of senior academics who don't want to see junior academics get attacked. I gave this guy way too much credit. It's clearly a calculated strategy.
-
That's right. He's trying to be seen by very specific academics, hoping they'll give him his next gig. Ceci & Williams had a similar White male PhD student harassing me on Twitter, on my blog, via DMs, wherever he could - he likely wanted them to give him a postdoc
-
Yes, it's a very clear strategy I have noticed and discussed with others too.
-
Insidious stuff. Been around since forever, but the fact that they do it in public and commit it to written record is amazing. They're basically saying they refuse to abide by anti- discrimination law. Given academic institutions also equity & diversity policies, it's a red flag
-
He seemed to border on listening to reason when I engaged but then again I'm a white dude.
-
Yeah, you're the token he talks with respectfully... I wonder why...pic.twitter.com/WbHmRplIvh
