Hi. I understand what you're trying to do. But you say you're going to analyse respectability politics? What theory & data will you use? This term is about intra-group dynamics among minorities What is your place as a White climate scientist using soc sci theories dev by

My intention is to use my lived experience, training, and expertise (which is finite) to account and speak directly to the white centers of power and control, which dominate and gate-keep people and other forms of leadership out of institutional power.

All noble, & I think you mean well, but these terms all have specific scholarly meaning and require training and theoretical rigour. Your 'lived experience' is not equal to

Def call out racism! It would be useful to unpack your own & other White people's race position & contribution to racism in your discipline, but please don't misuse scholarly terms by and about

Thank you for your time here and kind feedback. I will work to incorporate all of your feedback into how I execute the talk and speak as a white scientist. And to be precise and respectful of the scholarship & language that I am upholding.

I do not mean to conflate my lived experience with POC - Rather, I mean to talk about the experience as a white scientist have been given a "pass" to move through spaces of power where supremacist behavior is blindly trafficked.

I hear you and respect your feedback greatly on that particular point and will take it deeply to heart. Regardless of how much I feel butchered and hurt by the power brokers in this space - it is never equivalent to what my BIPOC colleagues experience or feel.

Anti-racism is work, it's meant to be hard, and it's toughest on Indigenous/ Black people.
We need to remember that whatever we face, it costs racial minorities (esp #POC who are disabled, LGBTQIA, poor) much more.
