Same, love the opportunity to meet mutuals face to face. Some I may never get a chance because they live overseas & I cherish the friendship all the same, sometimes more strongly than people I know and see regularly offline. Twitter friends can offer such nourishing support.

The majority of online behaviour is the same as offline. If there's a baseline of social interaction (mutual follow) you might be colleagues or acquaintances or just admirers of one another's work/ content. More ongoing & meaningful contact might make you friends.

I use Social media primarily for political action & information so I conside people I follow allies & friends for peace and social justice or experts I gain info from, or agencies whose news, policies and actions I like to follow.
