Srsly tho, cats spend so much time trying to teach us to communicate! It’s we who are the slow learners. It’s like research on
#autistic kids: all about ‘training’ & behavioural conditioning, using observational measures interpreted by an ‘objective’ researcher who does not... -
...acknowledge their own assumptions. Seen from the point of view of the person being studied it’s a whole different story. They experience the world differently from the way we do & they communicate differently from us but cats are sentient creatures all of their own.

I’d love to see research on older cats’ communication with their people. Happy cats’ vocalisations & mimicry of speech become ever more expressive as they age.
