What's his action plan to ensure his belief system won't affect his advocacy of Muslim constituents? How will he address Muslim rights within his party? Which Muslim groups does he consult (& remunerate) to help shape his social policies? What are his anti-racism strategies?
It is unfortunate that Australians have to navigate PTSD; they need support, understanding & funding. As a society, we have to do much better by veterans. However, many people with mental illness do not espouse prejudice or excuse racism & they aren't running for a political role
An apology is PR. A clear action plan for change is what will make a difference. Leaders need to demonstrate that anti-racism means taking proactive steps for systemic reform.
