Later, residents were told they could be relocated - off their ancestral lands. 'The department stopped providing management services in 2013 and has had no formal relationship with the community since.' Can you imagine Gov in metro areas refusing to provide safe drinking water?

So pissing off. People should never have to fundraise to ensure clean drinking water. Not to mention the prices quoted are such a drop in the bucket for any government in Australia. You lured me into the story with Barra art.

Actually your comment on not having to fundraise for water leads me to reflect on this basic fact: 'Access to water and sanitation are recognised by the United Nations as human rights'! Also the UN has repeatedly reported that Australia fails Indigenous people on human rights
-
most certainly. a basic human right, and part of background for my comment, not to mention the ongoing crime against Flint Michigan (a metropolitan area) residents for similar reasons, and a number of indigenous communities in the US (among many others the world over).
