Not sure why people are resharing the 2014 @sciencemagazine "The top 50 science stars of Twitter" and once again saying "there's only 4 women."
List is predominantly WHITE people incl the women
White people see gender equity as "50/50" White people. That's racism, not equity
The list also has known harrassers, whose behaviour was will documented at the time, and apparently this is not a gender equity issue. The list (& similar articles for years later) is a celebration of how science & the public see science: White, cishet, able-bodied people

Scientists reproduce gender inequality by the choices they make every day - from their curriculum that whitewashes #POC & minorities, to the speakers they invite to events, to scientists they choose to engage on Twitter and voices they ignore
If you don't notice racial injustice & minority exclusion on an elitist list in one of the most famous science publications, what are you ignoring in your classrooms, labs, professional societies, neighbourhoods? White people's vision of gender equity maintains all inequalities.
