ie. Pile on Serena and tell BW to "get over it" coz "racism" isnt real in one tweet and promote their #MeToo speaking engagement in the next tweet.

Very true. Dismissing her when she expressly said she was standing up for women's rights. Because for WW women's rights is defined through a prism of White women's needs and aspirations to be more like White men, rather than to fight for what all women and femmes need.
-
and the blatant hijacking of the
#MeToo movement by and for WW is messed up. -
I cannot get behind White women who use this as a talking point, but will not actually support WOC who are harassed, or WOC who speak up on harassment. Wanting kudos for using a hashtag invented by a Black woman but disinterested in Black women's rights. Nope to infinity.
-
And WW who make spaces unsafe for WoC to speak up against harassment! Safe spaces for WoC was the WHOLE reason for Burke's work and creation of Me Too. They can Me Too to promote themselves and then tell Serena "No, not you too" without batting their eyelashes. Disgusting!

I think about this whenever I read one of those "Black women will save us!" posts, which is pretty often, as it seems to be quite the white liberal theme. I don't think white ppl grasp how insulting, lazy, and entitled this is.
-
Agreed. Indigenous/ Black women are expected to be superhuman, to pave the way for change, regardless of their personal interests and circumstances. It's unfair and perpetuates injustice.
-
It gives WW an out in the sense that they can feel satisfied they've given their followers a "woke" shout-out to WOC ingenuity & stick-to-itiveness. Then they sit back, abdicate all responsibility & wait to benefit from the magic. Can't imagine how maddening it must be for WOC
