Goddess help us. My last encounter was during an E&D meeting, where a White woman presented the diversity strategy saying 'it was for everybody not just minorities,' and another WW red-faced and upset that I'd pointed out there's hardly any

WW visibly upset: 'I'm upset that you're upset.' I'm not upset, I said, I'm frustrated that Whiteness dominated that discussion. WW more upset: 'I'm trying my hardest! I'm a volunteer. Maybe I should just quit doing E&D' She wasn't going to & did not quit. I'm also a volunteer

I love that POC were there by white peoples sufferance but white people are gracious volunteers gifting us with their presence.

Yes. This. WP do diversity volunteering to feel good and to further their interests. I told her (& she concedes) she gets kudos for this & it benefits her career. She never 'notices' when POC are excluded until it's pointed out. Still she doesn't push back. Wants to be 'nice.'
