Whose support does Prof Davis need to individually win? Non-Aboriginal people who aren't interested in hearing the Black women who led the #UluruStatement? This is how "moderate" White people perpetuate racism, thinking there's a "nice" way to talk about colonialism. There isn'thttps://twitter.com/jeremy_gans/status/1000573616335994880 …

And yet the other three in the ABC blog post all did that. I'm still not clear on why the post has only one indigenous participant.

Indigenous is spelled with a capital "I," jeremy. You held up article by another author who is not Indigenous as example of more palatable way of discussing the #UluruStatement But you're confused why they published the words of the most qualified person, who's also Aboriginal

Your views & confusion are irrelevant & don’t matter. Stay in your lane. A black woman speaking on matters affecting us does not invite your ‘critical analysis’ from the vacuum of ignorance from which you come. Step off, sit down & listen. You are not in league of @mdavisqlder

Using the notion of expert ("not in league") to silence ("your views irrelevant"). All for listening, but worry about a trajectory of privileging some forms of knowing.

It seems you are telling an Aboriginal woman (@NatalieCromb - who, not incidentally is an expert) that her pointing out another Aboriginal woman's expertise (Prof Davis) to racist White man, is as exercise of privilege. If so, this is wildly misguided at best. Damaging at worst

Aboriginal knowledges are subsumed by paternalistic policies. #UluruStatement undoes this damage by consulting with Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people Aboriginal woman leading Statement was attacked by this White man pandering to White interests. THAT is White privilege

Also absurd way to repurpose the concept of privilege. White privilege (Peggy McIntosh) emerged from reflection of MALE privilege that is power to move through world without same gender restrictions as women - and that WHITE privilege confers similar power to White women & men

White privilege means White people- regardless of gender, class & other background - can see White people leading in all spheres of public life, without having to defend themselves from racial discrimination daily. Aboriginal people can't dismiss or escape racial inequality

Idea that a White man is being denied "privilege" by Aboriginal women because he lacks expertise in law (not to mention lived experience as Aboriginal person) is peak White privilege Racism is not a privilege. There are no "two equal sides" to racism. One side already dominates
