  3. Oh, and I'm not pity asking, cause I love doing it! However I want to expand it a bit, but it takes research & time so just wanted to be sure it's what the people want 😊

  8. It's raining and that's lovely but I have to decide if I want to walk a mile to work OR pay to park. Institutions really should giving parking passes to researchers, it's not like they aren't making money from us 😡

I found my namesake in the wild! I pulled off the bark from a dead log and found wood cockroaches and large terrestrial isopods and several large darkling beetles. This false mealworm beetle (Alobates pensylvanicus) played dead.

That really was a fantastic thread, great information and black belt level gif selection. Bravo

  16. The practice of tobacco enemas spread untill 1811 when English scientist Ben Brodie discovered that nicotine was bad for the cardiac system. The enema fell out of popularity & everyone went back to boring ol mouth to mouth. Fin. Tune in next Sunday for more charlatan stories.

  17. Sounds weird, but it was so popular that revival stations were hung along the River Thames, like fire extinguishers in a chemistry lab.

  18. Yep, in the 1700s a bellow was used to revive drowning victims. The hose was inserted into the victims bum connected to the bellow and tobacco smoke was blown up the butt.

  19. Back in the 1700s, resuscitation was muuuuch different than what we have today. Back then the phrase "blowing smoke up my ass" was taken quite literally.

  20. We are all used to CPR being given to a drowning victim until they cough up water and you're the hero. The thought of putting my mouth on a stranger's is gross, but thank God someone considered it.
