My problem with Nye is that he rarely recognizes when he is wrong and continues to blaze forward while spreading misinformation. That's not the purpose of science. Maybe celebrity (see goop and Paltrow) but not science.

While a newer voice might be helpful, "science communication" between layfolk and professional scientists is a tricky business as people (even scientists when not "at work") tend toward hyperbole and the simplification of complex or technical details.
