  2. To the commentators baffled by Djokovic's many drop shots: HE'S TRYING TO SHORTEN THE POINTS. You yourselves have noted Millman's winning all the long rallies. Doesn't mean it'll work (see: Federer, Roger), but that's why he's doing it.

I found the chain email from 2010 and the fake quotes are AMAZING now. It’s all about how sad he is that news coverage dropped since his election and so he “absolutely obsesses over Fox” all day instead of working as a result.

Early in the Obama years, an older relative sent me a chain e-mail purporting to be an interview with an anonymous WH official saying basically a parody version of what a conservative critic would think happens. Today feels like a really weird echo.

Thank you for the perfect response to today's bizarre, anonymous op-ed. "Speak in your own name. Resign in a way that will count."

I don’t think it does, actually. What’s happening now is about political appointees and White House staff, not the bureaucracy.

Further in the (ongoing) “it would take only one… saga. JUST ONE GOP senator could make an enormous difference. And so far, not even one will take a stand. This is going to look bad historically, and looks pretty bad right now. Background:

Would be good if one R on the cmmtee said: I can't put you on the court unless I am positive you will enforce US v Nixon in context of subpoena to testify. If I dont get that and you wont recuse, what am I to do?

I think I should say that I had zero foreknowledge of what my op-ed page was about to drop when I wrote this piece:

People who think my newspaper shouldn’t have published The Op-Ed are nuts. People who think its author shouldn’t have written it are reasonable.

This is an urgent, important read from : "If protecting the rules requires tearing down the rules, what is there to be gained?”

Trump's off-the-cuff screed just then makes this line from NYT Op/Ed resonate: "Meetings with him veer off topic and off the rails, he engages in repetitive rants, and his impulsiveness results in half-baked, ill-informed and occasionally reckless decisions..."

  18. > has it exactly right: If you are a senior official in the Trump administration who believes the president to be unfit, an anonymous op ed is not remotely the proper response, and could easily make things worse.

It's basically this endless thread mashed into one op-ed. But that thread is itself absolutely insane and it's even crazier it's now out there in this form.
