Oh, and thanks to those who suggest a Section 4 on staggered terms, ending the life tenure of current Justices and opening spots every 2 years, such as in the 1st and third year of a President's term. Agreed that this is a good idea.

I like it, but you'll need a set of transition rules

You’d want so a vacancy every 2 years. It’s complicated but you could do it in a way that current justices keep life tenure but replacements get shorter terms (that could be renewed) to get on proper schedule. Also after serving as a justice, individual should be on CTA.

My counter-proposal: 10 total seats 5 seats - chosen by congressional Democratic leaders without Republican input 5 seats - chosen by congressional Republicans leaders without Dem. input POTUS has no role 7 votes needed to strike down any law.
