I hear these things can take up to 9 months to review, so I figured I'd get some early feedback :)pic.twitter.com/eE5F6P7PPH

Tl;dr set your measurements of success and your KPIs off what makes your product the most pleasant to use, not what should be the best on paper.

An electric skateboard that jerks itself back to balance seems great until you’ve used one that eases itself back intuitively. An EV that drives like a golf cart is status quo until you drive one that corners like a Tesla. A VR headset with top specs is nothing if you get sick.

This isn’t to say that only the longest-running members of a field will succeed, but rather that there could very well be an invisible opening for a challenger that understands how to measure success for their product

It’s the same with VR; four years ago I was told it was all about frame rate and resolution, if you get those as high as possible, people won’t feel nauseous anymore. Yet, the PSVR at 120Hz still makes me hurl, but the Oculus quest at 72Hz I can use for hours.

And so when Porsche/Ford/Chevy/Jaguar come out with EVs, they don’t have the decade of fine tuning. You can’t evaluate it with a formula, you have to sit next to someone as they take off and watch the smile emerge.

This is also why I think
@Tesla will continue to dominate in the face of new EVs (electric Hummer? Uhhh). How those cars feel to drive is more than just “they’re fast golf carts”, they’re buttery bullets. It’s difficult to describe but easy to feelPrikaži ovu nitHvala. Twitter će to iskoristiti za poboljšanje vaše vremenske crte. PoništiPoništi -
This is such a big part of determining who succeeds and fails in the emerging tech markets: it’s not just about who gets the best spec, it’s who delivers the best experience to the customer. For a Onewheel, that’s more than just “does it remain perfectly level at all times”

Listened to the CEO of Future Motion describing the firmware of the Onewheel by saying something like “its not just about creating an algorithm that balances the board perfectly, because it has to feel right, and that’s more complicated than what a sensor can tell you”

Holy heck,
@GloveboxNet got nearly 100 new followers since Friday. I never expected that account to get even 100 total followers so color me surprised and delighted that there’s room on the web for dumb glovebox memes!Hvala. Twitter će to iskoristiti za poboljšanje vaše vremenske crte. PoništiPoništi -

I always thought breeding anaerobic monkeys to live in my glovebox and do my bidding was a good idea, but I guess there are easier ways.https://twitter.com/GloveboxNet/status/1224350113394499586 …

So, based on our surveys, more than 88% of people who have tried a preprint server heard about it via social media or from a friend/colleague. I suppose thanks are in order to our wonderful users; don't doubt your impact as ambassadors for ideas you want to see take off!

Also, this same link can let you fix author names a bit quicker than emailing me (goes straight to the folks who can sort it out) just specify the correct spelling in the “claim” request.https://twitter.com/Organometallica/status/1224431961743085568 …

Another case is if you have both been the submitting author and non-submitting author on multiple preprints, particularly older preprints, you might have papers not properly linked to your account (looking at you
@A_Aspuru_Guzik). Nowadays the system makes this less common thoughPrikaži ovu nitHvala. Twitter će to iskoristiti za poboljšanje vaše vremenske crte. PoništiPoništi -
FYI, adding an author to your preprint on ChemRxiv does *not* automatically create them an account. However, if they later create an account, they can connect existing preprints to it by clicking "Claim authorship" as shown in the graphic.pic.twitter.com/WYLNPYyouf

I do love papers like this that just challenge dogma in such a simple and straightforward way. This was a great read!

This new paper in
@ACS_Omega wants us to rethink oxygen's role in bioenergetics... The conclusions seem straightforward/obvious to me, but I suppose that is probably why it is so important.
