  4. Month and a half ago, rent control was an activist idea. Now all mayoral candidates support it statewide.

  5. Iannarone: I'm a small business owner. Know what homeownership means to pathway to wealth. Take a chance on me.

  7. Wheeler. Thank you for inviting me. Wants to build relationships. Ideas and concepts into workable policy. Portland can lead.

  8. Dotson: yes support rent control. Housing is a human right.

  9. Wheeler: can't wait for crisis to implement policies. Bernie Sanders bought land when mayor of Burlington. Need land trusts.

  10. Wheeler: leadership did not address this issue until it became a crisis

  11. Bailey: state legislature should remove preemption on rent control

  12. Question 5: should must extreme rent increases be regulated? Do you support consideration of rent control policy?

  13. Support rent control? Iannarone - consumer and human rights protection

  14. Bailey: divest from mortgage speculators. Loudest voices not always most representative. Housing diversity in neighborhoods.

  15. Bailey: need a mayor not afraid to stand up to pushback on affordability and density

  16. Bailey: There's pretty good consensus that we need density that's affordable. Need to get back to duplexes and housing diversity

  17. Harris: change mindset against affordable homes. Provide housing where people want to live

  18. Iannaronne: I'm pro density and we can find balance with neighborhood livability.

  19. So pleased to hear the passion about changing the housing dynamic from mayoral candidates

  20. Wheeler: need landlord licensing so they know responsibilities. Investigative and enforcement mechanisms - more audits.
