Orb is only 3 letters and is commonly taken so I added ish not long after. Dev is the other fallback. 
Fun fact: before that, my online monkier was Zeratul because I was a huge fan of the franchise before I was hired to work on it. Once I started working for Blizzard, I thought it was probably appropriate to have another nick name and I think that's why it stuck so easily.
