There's a restaurant in California that sells "Rhode Island" clam chowder and I was born, raised, and lived there for 22 years and have no idea how that differs from New England Clam Chowder, or Manhattan Clam... (eww), which said restaurant also had.

Googling it looks like it's potato soup w/a shitload of clams which sounds good but yeah, not something I heard about when I lived on that coast.

Raised in RI too - I vaguely know it’s the clear stuff but I never had it, really didn’t see it often. Not sure if was in PVD area - maybe like a clamshack like Iggies in Warwick kinda thang. You didn’t miss much IMO! Now I want some Dells, or a good grinder....
