Don’t be disparaging to people who didn’t break the rules.

would you not give up your spot in their place? i came to the conclusion that i would give up my spot for reynor and namshar if it came down to it and i'm top 30 EU GM

That’s fine, that’s your decision. Pressuring lower level players to give up their spots is despicable. Is the sign up thing random or first come first serve? Because if it’s the latter then it’s pretty easy to figure out who’s fault it is for not getting in.

I mean, it's not like I'm some selfless amazing person, both me and rotti and I'm sure many other decent people would give up our spot in a heartbeat, if we'd do that and we actually have a non 0% chance of getting to group stage 3, what does that say about about people who wont?

It says that they signed up legitimately and they want to play in what is probably one of their first events. These players are certainly looking forward to competing. You don’t have to be top 30 EU GM with a non-zero chance of advancing for that to be OK.

Who values their own enjoyment of competing over someone's career and livelihood? It's such an alien concept to me.

That isn’t a fair way to look at this. Why did you (or I, or anyone else reading these tweets) buy an expensive smart phone and nice shoes instead of donating to charity? How can we value such things over people’s lives?

Thats not a fair way of looking at it either, if we continue with that logic then why do we do anything for anyone? We do it because it's basic human decency, in society we generally accept that if our loss is significantly less than someone's gain then its the right thing to do.
