I strongly suspect canning process modifies mercury/fish so you absorb more. Most cases of mercury poisoning from fish in US from canned tuna. Native Alaskans eating VERY high mercury whale, sea lion, polar bear rarely have mercury toxicity. They eat that all fresh normally.https://twitter.com/AlephAnon/status/1145780744867975170 …

The concerns I had: fish - mercury, lentils - xenoestrogens. But I am guessing that you are weighing these as still less to be worried about than feedlot meats and so on. Certainly will look into discount fish more so- did before, but less. You no longer recommend canned fish?

Mercury is heavily dependent on the level of the food chain you're eating at. If you're eating at the top of the food chain (like shark and swordfish) on the reg, that shit can really fuck you up in the head.

But whales are at the bottom of the food chain, mostly subsist of algal matter and so forth. Things like sea lions aren't top of the food chain predators. Only thing I'd be worried about is bears, but they're omnivores more than top of the food chain carnivores.

That's not whale meat. It's in the liver of the animal. What I'm describing are general rules of ecosystems. It's a variation of the laws of thermodynamics.

Not all whales eat so low on the chain. The long life and huge food intake of some whales also can lead to mercury. Please do a little more research before commenting rather than just referencing "laws of physics" to support your statements.https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/packaged-whale-meat-in-ja/ …

I just said the long life of a whale would lead to a higher buildup of mercury in the organs and that this is why I wouldn't eat organs from those animals. And all whales aren't low on the food chain, but most are.pic.twitter.com/3qoTfwnyDH

You also said: "That's not whale meat. It's in the liver of the animal. What I'm describing are general rules of ecosystems. It's a variation of the laws of thermodynamics." I showed you that it is, in fact, whale meat very often. Let's just be friends and not argue too much.

They also studied killer whales in that study (I'm not associating dolphins w/whales cuz they're different animals). Killer whales are higher up on the food chain.pic.twitter.com/vxcRyhdfo7
