    That is outrageous.

    Despite issuing invitation to me to do Francis Bacon lecture over a year ago, today Uni of Hertfordshire senior management (not philosophy department) proposed to change lecture format so that my time would be cut in half and a critic would be platformed with me. I've refused.

    Instead of spending the last three years telling bald-faces lies about things a moderately informed fourth grader would know about, suppose David Brooks had spent time reading his own newspaper or googling what bills Dems had passed in the House. More good would have been done.

    Instead of spending the past 3 years on Mueller and impeachment suppose Trump opponents had spent the time on an infrastructure bill or early childhood education? More good would have been done.

    Can’t share details, but one time David Brooks wrote a column that was so bad—so wildly off-base, wrong about basic political history and tax policy—that I and others had to pull an all-nighter working on a line-by-line rebuttal. We had a 3am conference call, about its wrongness.

    I must? Really? I mean it's good that he's doing it, but he won't be tortured or killed for it. The most that can happen is he loses the next election.

    Regardless of your politics, you must admit that this vote by Senator is a profile in courage. Pleased to see Mitt Romney honor our Constitution, the rule of law, and the truth.

    In my experience the best way to proceed when there are opinions with which you disagree, is to prepare a well informed counter argument & engage in respectful debate. In fact, it’s what academics do. Attempting to stir up trouble under the guise of ‘concern’ is disingenuous.
