Trap, neuter, release is when you catch cats, being them to your local humane society or clinic that does it, and they spay/neuter the cats! You then pick them back up and put them back where you found them. :) I actually do this myself!!

Yard at certain times? Set up cages at those times!! Are those times of day tricky for you? You could set up a feeding schedule so there's a routine so it's easier to catch them. - CAGES! BUY THE CAGES SPECIFICALLY MADE FOR FERAL CATS! They can severely hurt themselves-

A tendency to go to the back of the cage and meow like dorks Because they can't get in that way. - For food use something that makes them sit in there for a while. Mix wet and crunchy food, it takes them longer to eat and wet food can have a stronger smell to attract them. -

- Getting the cats used to the cages: If you have a routine set up and you want your cats to not be scared of the cages, or even ballsy to want to go in, have the cage out but not baited for several days or weeks. Let them get used to the cage being there, it becomes a part of-

Chances are if you see a cat with a notched ear, it didn't get in some epic battle, it's been successfully trapped and cannot reproduce :)
