It is nice when one can put these things in neat little boxes which feels like clarity in some sense. While I appreciate the effort, I find at least a half of this highly questionable. Sadly, there are no rational arguments that I could present for you; just the vast open sky.
-
I like the open sky.

Would not add or delete word! "...everything you experience is a brain-generated virtual representation arising in working memory." Yup!

Thanks!

"....the result of narrowing the scope of working memory to such a small area of sensory experience that its representational construction becomes obvious" - so for insight into not-self & cessation, is single sense-gate preferable to an all inclusive/panoramic practice?
-
Not necessarily for not-self. I actually find that multi-sensory practice leads to a quicker insight there. For cessation, probably a single sense gate is preferable.

Thanks for the clarification

Do you know what the The Homunculus problem is?

1. This is super interesting! I did a bunch of psychedelics when I was younger, so the realization that we are essentially living in VR that is generated in our mind, and that in a way nothing is real, was a realization I had back then.
-
2. But I didn't have the realization that there is no self either until I did a lot of meditation. That was the really earth-shattering part for me, and it just added to my existing realization that what we perceive as reality is just a projection.
-
3. It's funny seeing my own bias here. Because I had the first realization when I was quite young, and not as a result of meditation, I kind of dismissed it as less important.

But then again, by practicing metacognition - awareness of one's awareness which is possible due to the brain's ability to create 'maps of maps' - we can awaken to the true nature of self and world.
