It's a blast. Very fun. Also, IMO, it is 100 x stronger for opening the heart than your typical metta practice.

When I first began attending the Berkeley Vedanta Center, I thought the lack of kirtan was a problem and campaigned for its inclusion. Swami Aparananda kept the singing as a part of the evening vespers, but it wasn’t allowed anywhere else. I came to appreciate that policy later.

If I’m visiting mutual friends of Franz's and mine at Kali Mandir, I’ll usually end up sitting through some kirtan. My roommate here ventures in those circles too. It’s not really my thing, but I don’t abhor it until the lecture begins.
