I definitely happy to not be at war with Russia over Ukraine, or something. On the other hand, election interference and subsequent mayhem cannot be tolerated.

Now, apply that to America's interference in many elections including Russia's. Why can't it be tolerated? Every other country has to tolerate America's interference in our elections (yes, Canada has suffered your intereference too.) Why are you special?

It’s not about being special. It’s about one of the functions of government being to defend the nation against aggression. That is its proper role and that is what the US govt should be doing.

Ok. You interfered in their elections, multiple times. Now they have interfered in yours once. Perhaps you should get together and say "let's both of us not do that." If you want something to stop, stop doing it.

this is a serial killer saying "it's not right when it is done to me". Virtually everyone outside the US thinks this is laughable.

"we don't want to be treated the way we have routinely treated other people for well over a hundred years". Why should anyone outside the US care, except of course, because you're overarmed and aggressive?

This is all obvious. What is equally obvious is that as a US citizen I have legitimate concerns about the integrity of my government.

Sure. Now, what is the best way to protect your government's integrity? Demonize Putin and Russia, or say "gee it hurts when people do to us what we routinely do to them. Maybe we should stop doing that."

The actual answer is to defend against aggression while at the same time not perpetrating it. Both are obviously necessary. In terms of “demonization,” you seem to be the one calling everybody evil today.

Touche. And is America going to give up interfering in other people's elections? Is that what this movement has been about "we see our own wrongdoing, and repudiate it and call on the other side to do likewise?" Because I ain't seeing that.

I don’t know what America is going to do, Ian. But I haven’t given up on the world, or on humanity, or on America, or even on Canada, for that matter. This is a beautiful planet and it’s worth saving.

For those who are still in the game, Michael, it should be triage time.
