my question: if nirvana is total “lights out” then what’s stopping awake beings from commiting suicide? existence bias?

but if Buddha’s original goal was to escape the wheel of samsara, then it was existence bias which stopped him from pulling the trigger

my pet theory is that existence bias is encoded in our genes. so awake beings just let it play out rather than short circuiting it.

There are two directions of awakening: 1 down to the zero point and the other toward infinity. Nirvana is an example of the first sort.

But there are plenty of examples of the second sort. And also of the both-at-once variety. That, to me, explains guys like Aurobindo.
