Re: the part about perception being like video cameras, is it possible that this model doesn't work at all?

Phenomenologically, it makes sense to me to say there is a lens, a detector, transmission, and assembly. That’s pretty much the camera form.

Except in that Cartesian theater formulation, you generate a Homunculus, which leads to another Homunculus inside that Homunculus . . .

I think you just have perception with various levels of identification with it. I don’t see where you need the mini me inside.

Well, the mini-me would be that agency of perception or identification, however you conceive it (maybe not a homunculus, maybe Atman)

I map Atman to raw awareness, so it wouldn’t be that. However, I believe we have an internal representation. I don’t see why it’s a problem.

Who views the internal representation? (Who is the internal one, or at least the one who isn't external?)

The article is not concerned with the problem of consciousness, but instead with explaining how an experience can be nondual.

In short: when perception occurs without the involvement of the brain regions involved in creating the sense of self, then it feels nondual

This is of course different than saying that it’s actually nondual in some kind of absolute sense.

And, as I said, it entire skips over the problem of consciousness. Which, btw, the traditional explanation doesn’t solve at all either.
