The first thing you'll need is an Internet Service Provider. These tech people allow you to actually access the ten million megabytes of information on the 1995 web - that's over 54 million web pages!pic.twitter.com/MDfLqYp02P

The first thing you'll need is an Internet Service Provider. These tech people allow you to actually access the ten million megabytes of information on the 1995 web - that's over 54 million web pages!pic.twitter.com/MDfLqYp02P
But you won't see a single page without a 'browser' and there really is only one choice: Netscape Navigator. Screw Mosaic - this is 1995 dude!pic.twitter.com/Y7zlo2y9z7
OK, you are now officially on the 1995 internet! Welcome to the information superhighway - now what do you do? (And why is dad complaining that he can't use the phone line?)pic.twitter.com/xhU2UWMppn
Well you are now going to 'surf the web' 1995 style! Journalist J.C. Herz - one of the early web celebs - has a new book out explaining how: William Gibson's even given it a virtual thumbs up. (Or 'like' as we'll say in seven years time)pic.twitter.com/AtfEXdtn6b
But if reading's not your thing then Microsoft have helpfully provided a video - with a little help from their friends!pic.twitter.com/hL3Aabaitk
Here's Rachel and Chandler actually accessing the internet in 1995: "Could it BE any more simple?" (Fun fact: Bi Gates later named the Microsoft search engine after Chandler!)pic.twitter.com/s1eJNdLq6S
Speaking of search engines you'll want to use one of the Big Three: Excite! Yahoo! or Lycos (if you don't like exclamation marks). They each have a team of people, supported by web-crawler code, who compile and updated searchable lists of websites. Amazing, eh?pic.twitter.com/fy6jTskqpa
Lycos is the big daddy of search worldwide: by 1996 it will have catalogued 60 million web documents, and use the proximity of keywords in a web page to determine the relevance of it to your search. By 1999 Lycos will be the most visited site on the whole wide web!pic.twitter.com/asUwAk39qm
However can I reccomend WebCrawler? It lets you search for any word in any web page and indexes entire sites! Sadly it can't be used during daylight hours due to its massive popularity, but I'm guessing you like to 'surf after dark' ;-)pic.twitter.com/gUwTqfvmfo
If you want to publish web pages on the 1995 internet there's no need to buy some high-end WYSIWYG software that only geeks can understand...pic.twitter.com/ZM17O56yQI
Just looking at it makes me shudder.
