Insight through vipassana is momentum-based. Keep building up the momentum of practice (via retreats, etc.) and breakthrough realization will occur. Keep losing your momentum and it will take a long time.

That question is like asking "What's the best way to build muscle?" There is no one-size-fits-all technique. Find something that works for you, and do a lot of it.

If I found something that works for me I wouldn't be asking for ideas

Regular Vipassana mindfulness meditation. Metta. Goldstein said once that metta is what increased his concentration. I tried that.

Really neither. I spent more time at the former but I feel like I'm ADD when I'm trying. Maybe I spend too much time on Twitter .

OK. It's a hard question to answer via tweets, because I need to find out more about you. However, in general there are many ways to practice concentration other than meditation, & they can help you to meditate.
