Ethical question arising for me: do you teach meditation to people whose politics you find deeply repugnant?

Everybody wants the same exact thing: ease and security for them and theirs. The difference is in what constitutes ease and security. Ethics operates within that definition more than it determines it. Thus, it will be probably be difficult to change their worldview with ethics.

Actually there’s a third distinction which is what constitutes “us” versus “them” in their eyes.

Agreed, luckily philosophical development & spiritual development both work to expand the definition of 'us'.
