Later, I saw them mating, and then defending their nest from intruders, such as the local gang of crows. Previously, they had run from the harassment of the crows, but not after the birth. Watching what is essentially a mini-hawk dive bomb crows at speed is amazing. /2

The adults have a completely grayscale color pattern, but the juveniles have a cinnamon splash. /4
