As such, those 5 governors you called young in 1999 are not youths. Neither is Governor Bello of Kogi state. You can be young and still not be a youth. One is relative, the other is absolute.

Also, never has the campaign asked that people be voted in based on their youth only. We are simply asking that the ages of eligibility be lowered to increase participation.

You made a valid point about youths participating more in party politics. But also, many young people desiring to contest are unable to because of the age limits.

See this article from 2015 on how many young people were candidates for elections but sadly, age counted against themhttps://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/175270-exclusive-inec-clears-underage-candidates-contest-senate-house-reps-elections.html …

No one is asking for office on a platter of gold. We are not seeking a quota but that young people should be allowed to run for offices they can't currently due to age limits.

I'll add this to my post but here first. How many of the advocates are actually too young to run? In 2019, under the Present constitution a "child" born in 1979 can run for President 1984 - Governor, Senate 1989 - House of Representatives LGA Chairman 1994 - Councillor

Is the present issue that a person born in 1984 illegible for President? Or that one of 1989 illegible for Senate? Or 1994 illegible for House of Representatives? My guy, do you honestly think that's the problem?

We have never advocated that it's the silver bullet to all of our problems. But for a youth-focused movement, it is one of the factors against quality youth participation in politics.

Do you know that the bill includes Independent candidacy?

Independence candidacy is an entirely different thing. If they had it separate, I'm sure it would passed.
