Opening a bank account in Nigeria is so archaic & stressful (so much paper + the 2 references nonsense) no wonder so many remain unbanked.

Same for me at BofA. Our banks have a loooong way to go. Too many unnecessary hoops.

It is easy for you to open a bank account abroad cos your passport has been added to a central identity database via visa application

But banks of the country that issued the passport, have your other accounts plus biometrics via BVN go dey talk reference nonsense.

I thought with BVN, there will be no need for referees to open a current bank account?

We should cancel BVN then, time wasting
