Few things annoy me like people coming on chat and say 'hi' or 'good morning' and waiting for a reply before proceeding.
@markessien replying is basic etiquette. What if the person is unavailable? I should spill out my life then find out i'm chatting with Siri?

@markessien I prefer preliminaries n matter how brief. "Hi, How are you doing? free to chat?" this is not email you're semi interrupting
