Questions to consider: * How does gender identity or presentation affect one’s experience w/disability? * Are gender differences reflected in the development & use of assistive technologies? * How do scientists who have disabilities navigate multiple types of marginalization?

In Norse myth, the god Baldur/Baldr dreams of his own death. His mother, the goddess Frigg, seeks vows from everything in the world not to kill Baldr but fails to ask the mistletoe. Loki tricks the blind god Höðr into killing Baldr with mistletoe.

The color image shows a hand drawn illustration of the blind god Hodr accidentally murdering his own brother and fellow god of Aesir, Baldr with a piece of mistletoe, as Loki stands next to him.

If Instructure does everything they are proposing, in the end they will have a much stronger product. That would have never happened if the "don't be critical" crowd had their way. Something to ponder about attitudes towards those that raise issues. /end

90+% of the people in our industry say nothing, or actively discourage any advocacy as "negatively" or "FUD." This reaction from Instructure would have never happened if people had listened to any of the criticism they got from people that are now saying "good job!"... /3

This is some good news. Still waiting to see final results, but this is more movement on listening to customers than I have seen from any other LMS company. Also interesting to see the responses to this turn of events...

You are wise to be skeptical of "scale" in ed. My thoughts:

Scale is just accepted. To paraphrase the Princess Bride. Martin showed different conceptions of and responses to scale. doesn’t question scale, recognise alternatives, or see that scale may not match it's strategic direction 2/8

so, I read the commments (I know: DON'T READ THE COMMENTS)... and they're all about grades with no reference to feedback, as if grades alone are what matter. well, I call my approach all-feedback-no-grades. we all need feedback we don't all need grades IMO

Thread with important (and for once positive) news on Instructure/Canvas. It’s not a total and it turned out making a lot of noise works. Opt-out should be available. Keeping my beady little eye on the new PP and ToS! Thank You for your hard work!
